Remember, remember, the 5th of November… We hope many of you will be able to join the Guy Fawkes Night celebrations around Britain tonight. Fireworks are always fun!
This past week, London welcomed Columbia University President Lee C. Bollinger and Dr. Jelani Cobb, newly appointed dean of Columbia Journalism School. Dean Cobb is the Ira A. Lipman Professor of Journalism and Director of the Ira A. Lipman Center for Journalism and Civil and Human Rights. Together they discussed The Future of Democracy and took questions from the invited alumni.
The CUCL executive board was honored to be invited and speak with President Bollinger and Dean Cobb.
Before we wrap up 2022, we have a few more events planned. First is a wine event with Brown University in preparation of Thanksgiving (those who celebrate the American tradition locally). We are then pleased to host Dean Linda P. Fried from the Mailman School of Public Health.
And last but not least, we look forward to spreading some holiday cheer at our Deck the Hall Happy Hour. And if you’re not in London, stay tuned as we hope to host events in Edinburgh and Oxford too.
